Course Description

This course is ideal for practising professionals who wish to update their existing qualifications and/or enhance their skills in the areas of electrical power, process control, instrumentation and/or industrial computer systems engineering.

Depending on your area of focus and career goals you can select an area of specialisation to help develop the skills you need as practising professional.

A focus on electrical power and industrial computer systems engineering will provide you with skills and knowledge of power system components and the effects of distributed resources, such as rooftop photovoltaic and energy storage, and demand response on power delivery networks. YouÕll also learn about the use and application of computing technologies in the operation of modern energy systems, industrial plants, manufacturing processes and material processing industries.

A focus on instrumentation Control and Industrial Computer Systems will provide you with skills and knowledge of classical and advanced control systems concepts. YouÕll use engineering software packages to model and simulate processes. YouÕll also learn how to design and implement appropriate control systems and evaluate the performance of those systems in our Instrumentation and Control laboratory.

Successful completion of this course provides a clear pathway into the second year of the Master of Engineering.

Applicants must have completed a Bachelor degree (AQF level 7) or equivalent; Successful completion of at least two university units at AQF level 7 degree or above. Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS): overall 6.0 with no band below 6.0; Test of English as a Foreign Language - IBT (TOEFL IBT): 73 with no band less than 18; Test of English as a Foreign Language - Paper Based (TOEFL - Paper Based): 534 (Test of Written English not less than 4.5); Pearson Test of English (PTE) - 50 with no band below 50; Cambridge Advanced English prior 52 with no section less than Borderline; Cambridge Advanced English after 169 overall with no band below 169 ; Occupational English Test (OET): OET with a minimum of C in the four components.

Entry may be gained through any of three means:
1. Recognised Engineering Bachelor's degree (AQF Level 7) in the specific disciplinary area of the major.
2. Evidence of an appropriate level of industrial experience and possession of a Bachelor's degree (AQF Level 7) in a technical, non-engineering area as
judged adequate by the Academic Chair or their designate.
3. Applicants without the necessary qualifications and/or background may be admitted with the caveat that they will be required to pass additional
units as part of the course requirements, as judged by the Academic Chair (or equivalent) or their designate. This entry option may increase the
required duration to complete the degree.

English Language requirements: IELTS overall 6.0 with no band below 6.0; CAE - 169 overall with no band below 169; PTE - 50 with no band below 50; TOEFL IBT - 73 with no band less than 18; Test of English as a Foreign Language - Paper Based (TOEFL - Paper Based) - 534 (Test of Written English not less than 4.5); OET - OET with a minimum of C (250-290) in each of the four components.
