Critical training

This program offers the opportunity to build foundational skills needed in any business administration career, and delivers hands-on training in vital HR skills through case studies, guest speakers, simulated negotiation situations and group work. You'll learn about the latest trends in organizational behaviour, human resources planning and employment law.

Industry connections

Throughout the program, you'll be encouraged to build your personal network within the HR field by attending various industry networking events. The HRPA local chapters, for instance, have hosted events to support Sheridan students in their professional and academic development.

Co-op opportunity

If you enroll in the three-year HR Co-op advanced diploma program, you may have the opportunity to participate in a program-related (paid or unpaid) co-op position. The Cooperative Education program is only offered at the Hazel McCallion Campus in Mississauga, Ontario.

Learning Outcomes

  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of employee recruitment, selection, and retention strategies.
  • Administer and facilitate the performance management program.
  • Co-ordinate and support the development, implementation, and evaluation of employee orientation, training, and development programs.
  • Implement and support effective employee and labour relations strategies in both non-union and union environments.
  • Administer and communicate the organization's total compensation plan.
  • Collaborate with others, in the implementation and monitoring of organization health and safety policies and practices.
  • Contribute to the identification of information needs and apply current and emerging information technologies to support the human resources function.
  • Contribute to organizational development strategies aimed at promoting organizational effectiveness.
  • Present and evaluate communication messages and processes related to the human resources function of the organization.

Applicants must hold Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, including these required courses:

  • One English, Grade 12 (ENG4C or ENG4U), minimum 60%, plus
  • One Mathematics, Grade 12 (C or U) or mathematics, Grade 11 (M or U) where MBF3C does not meet this requirement;
  • Minimum 65% overall average required for PBUSP, PBAHR, PBUHR
  • Minimum 70% overall average required for PBAHC Or mature student status

English-language proficiency testing:

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): 80 (20L,W,S,R) iBT (Internet-based TOEFL) or 550 Paper-based

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Academic Module: 6 – Overall Band Score with no Band below 5.5

PTE A (Pearson Test of English Academic): 58 - Overall Minimum Score (49L,W,S,R)

FCE (Cambridge English First): 174 - Cambridge English Scale or FCE B

CAE (Cambridge English: Advanced): 180 - Cambridge English Scale or CAE C

CPE (Cambridge English Proficiency): 200 - Cambridge English Scale or CPE C

Sheridan EAP (English for Academic Purposes): 70%

Sheridan EPA (English Proficiency Assessment): 4.0 – Listening Band, 4.0 – Reading Combined Band, CLB 7 – Writing
