Learn in an interactive learning environment that reflects the changing nature of business nationally and globally. NorthTec delivers this degree programme in collaboration with six other major polytechnics in New Zealand. Sharing resources, knowledge and research capabilities ensures our students benefit from the latest teaching and management practices to ensure their future success.

Accounting Major (Whangarei only): The accounting major is accredited by both Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) and CPA Australia to support you to become a professionally qualified accountant and register with their respective institutes. The blend of accounting and business knowledge you’ll gain, together with professional competence you’ll develop, will open up a range of rewarding career paths.

Leadership and Management Major (Whangarei only): There is more to management than being a good leader. It means having an understanding of the complexities of management processes, planning and the New Zealand business environment. Advance yourself - gain the tools to motivate, engage, make change, achieve objectives, manage workflows and ensure you are meeting all your necessary legal and organisational requirements as a manager.

Maori Enterprise Major (Whangarei only): Our unique Maori World view, language and culture is an amazing point of difference recognised all over the globe! Matauranga Maori (traditional Maori knowledge) has a huge contribution to make to help design principled-based solutions throughout the business world and wider community. While designed with tangata whenua in mind, the Maori Enterprise Major is actually for anyone who is interested in Maori enterprise. The major focuses on Maori values, practices and perspectives on organisations, business and industry.

Business Information Systems Major (Auckland International only): Skills covered range from e-commerce and web design through to financial information systems and programming.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: This is a focused and practical study programme that will ensure you are "work ready" for employment in industry and business and provide you with a global view of business and commerce.

Communication – The capacity to communicate skilfully in interpersonal, group and intercultural situations.

Ethics – The capacity to think critically through the ethical issues inherent in business situations.

Problem solving – The capacity to solve problems, accomplish tasks, think independently and contribute immediately to the organisation’s decision making.

Mindfulness – An awareness of and respect for the diversity of the local and global business environment.

Learning – To Learn the understanding of how they learn as individuals, how they continue to learn after their formal studies have finished and how they can contribute to organisational learning.

Applied – Our graduates are work ready. They apply their learning during their courses to projects and real business solutions.

للطلاب الدوليين

Applicants under 20 years of age require a minimum of NCEA Level 3 with University Entrance.

Applicants aged 20 years or over need to must provide evidence of their ability to successfully study at tertiary level. Level 4 or 5 courses or programmes are preferred.

All applicants must have a level of English sufficient to be able to study at this level. Applicants for whom English is not their first language must achieve an IELTS academic score of no less than 6.0 (with no bands lower than 5.5) or hold an equivalent score from a recognised alternative English Proficiency Test.

All applicants may be required to undertake an internal NorthTec English language placement test to confirm their current level of English proficiency. This will include writing and speaking components.
