ماذا سوف أتعلم؟

The Certificate of Attainment in Foundation Studies is an international pathway programme, offered by the Waikato Pathways College, for students who have completed high school but have not met the academic entry requirements for entry into degree study.

This Foundation Studies programme is for students that have not met the academic entry for undergraduate study. Papers in this programme will teach you skills for successful tertiary study within New Zealand.

The programme includes compulsory English language and electives across a range of study areas. Classes include New Zealand students to encourage international students to improve their English and make New Zealand friends.

Applicants must meet NCEA University Entrance or its equivalent. Completed International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with a minimum of 24 points. English Language Requirements: IELTS (Academic) - 6.0 overall (no band less than 5.5); iBT (internet based) TOEFL - 80 with a score of 21 in writing; Pearson PTE Academic - Overall score of 50 with no PTE communicative skills below 42; Waikato Pathways - Successful completion of Level 7 with a B grade average in the Certificate of Attainment in Academic English (CAAE) programme.

  • Have completed secondary school study, equivalent to New Zealand Year 12, or
  • Have a completed secondary school qualification from your country of origin

English Language Entry Requirements

Standard Foundation Programme

  • IELTS score 5.5, with at least a 5.0 in writing band, or
  • iBT (Internet Based / home-based TOEFL) minimum score of 46 with a writing score of 14, or
  • PTE Academic overall score of 49 and no less than 38 for writing, or
  • a B grade or better at Level 6 in the Certificate of Attainment in Academic English
  • All other evidence is considered on a case-by-case basis

Accelerated Foundation Programme

  • IELTS overall 5.5 with at least a 5.5 in writing band with no band less than a 5.0, or
  • an iBT (Internet Based TOEFL) minimum score of 46 with a writing score of 18, or
  • a B grade or better and a B grade in Writing at Level 6 in the Certificate of Attainment in Academic English, or
  • a PTE Academic overall score of 49 and no less than 40 for Writing.
  • All other evidence is considered on a case-by-case basis.
