ماذا سوف أتعلم؟

The Department of Psychology is part of the College of Sciences and offers four-year undergraduate programs leading to a Bachelor of Science degree. In addition to regular courses, undergraduate students at UNO have many opportunities to earn academic credit while working individually with faculty members in research and in psychological service settings. As a result, many of our undergraduates have appeared as co-authors with faculty and graduate students on articles published in leading scientific journals and have presented their findings at scientific meetings across the country. Students who maintain a superior grade-point average may graduate with "Honors in Psychology" by completing a research thesis.

Degree Requirements

A total of 39 hours in psychology courses (about 13 courses) are required for majors; at least 21 of those hours must be taken at UNO. One of the most important psychology courses is PSYC 3300, Experimental Design and Methodology, which is a prerequisite for most advanced psychology courses. This course provides students with a hands-on introduction to the scientific method, and experimental/statistical design and culminates in students conducting their own psychological study. These projects are often innovative and interesting. The department offers courses in child and adolescent development, learning and cognition, personality and abnormal behavior, human sexual behavior, sensation and perception, motivation, biological mechanisms, and many others. Psychology majors are required to complete a freshman, introductory sequence of courses, a selection of psychology elective courses, and at least 8 additional hours in science courses other than psychology.
