A statistics major prepares students for careers in the modern, data-driven world. The program provides a solid background in mathematics and programming and builds upon this background with course work in probability, statistics, computational methods for data science and application of statistics and probability.
A Bachelor of Arts degree in statistics requires a higher level of competency in arts and humanities, while the Bachelor of Science degree in statistics requires greater science proficiency. Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree can also choose to complete this major through Lyman Briggs College.

Minimum English requirements
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): Internet-based test: score of 79 with no sub score below 17; International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Regular admission: Score of 6.5 or higher; Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Minimum score of 53; minimum sub score requirement of 48.
