ماذا سوف أتعلم؟

Students prepare for careers in public and private family and child support programs and community agencies including Early Childhood Intervention, Child Protective Services, foster care and adoption programs, health care, and early care and education facilities. Using an interdisciplinary approach, students focus on human development and relationships across the lifespan. As a condition for participation in a child development class that requires either observation or participation at the campus Child Development Center, students must undergo a criminal background check and provide verification of an annual TB test. See note below regarding admittance to the Child Development Center and Texas Teacher Certification Requirements.

Human Development and Family Sciences majors prepare for many types of careers working with children and families. Using an interdisciplinary approach, students focus on human development and family relationships across the lifespan.

Human Development and Family Sciences graduates are uniquely qualified for careers helping others, contributing to society, and making a difference in the lives of children and their families. Specifically, students will gain knowledge related to development across the lifespan, family relationships, family interaction, family and cultural diversity, family policy, program administration, guidance, and developmentally appropriate curriculum planning for young children.

Students must have attended at least two years of school in the U.S. must provide SAT/ACT scores and meet regular freshman admission standards are as follows: Four credits of English; Four credits of Math; Four credits of Science; Three credits of Social Studies; Two credits of Foreign Language; One credit of Fine Arts; One credit of Physical Education.

Minimum Score for Regular Admission: Total: 78 (Each Section: 19; Except Writing: 18), TOEFL PBT: Total: 550, IELTS (Overall: 6.5; Each Section: 6.0), GCE/GCSE/IGCSE: Grade of "C", WASSCE: Grade of "B3".

An International Baccalaureate grade of 4 or higher in English A1 or A2 at the Higher Level or Standard Level or English B at the Higher Level is required for regular admission (predicted or actual).
