Interested in a packaging major?
MSU is the first higher education institution in the world to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in packaging, and is home to the top-ranked School of Packaging, whose graduates account for more than half of all packaging professionals in the nation.
The packaging major combines basic principles of physics, chemistry, mathematics and materials science with a cognate in business to prepare students for rewarding careers in the fast-moving consumer goods industries. Students choose one of the following concentrations: packaging science or packaging value chain management.
The program's flexibility allows students to leverage their personal skills and interests and to make individualized choices. Elective courses for the packaging major offer broad, general preparation or focused study in food packaging, medical packaging, distribution, robotics, hazardous materials, packaging and the environment, and other areas.
The MSU School of Packaging is known as a leader in work on permeability and migration, shelf life, food packaging, product/package compatibility, tamper evidence and legibility.

Some form of packaging is involved in the production and movement to market of nearly every item of consumption in today's economy, so career opportunities are plentiful. Graduates with a packaging major seek careers in sustainability, food safety, food security, protection of goods to market and more.

MSU strongly encourages a college preparatory curriculum in secondary school. High school GPA is 3.5-4.0.
Minimum English requirements
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): Internet-based test: score of 79 with no sub score below 17; International English Language Testing System (IELTS) - Regular admission: Score of 6.5 or higher; Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Minimum score of 53; minimum sub score requirement of 48.
Application submission deadline: Regular Admission: February 1.
