The AI field is a growing niche area and is now the centerpiece of technology innovation in advanced robotics, autonomous vehicles, knowledge automation, and computer vision.

UB is pleased to launch the first and only Master of Science program, MS in Artificial Intelligence in the state of Connecticut. Instruction is exclusively face-to-face and includes web-assisted courses. Graduates will be prepared for in-demand commercial or research positions in industry (including tech giants) and academia.

Artificial intelligence is one of four main drivers set to dominate 2018-20 that will positively affect business growth per the World Economic Forum (WEC) 2018 report. Machines and algorithms in the workplace are set to create 133 million new roles (WEC).

Jobs in emerging professions are set to increase its share of employment from 16% to 27% of the total employee base. Information cited from WEC's The Future of Jobs Report, 2018.

The average salary for AI is $121k annually per Payscale. A machine learning engineer’s salary is $142,855, per the job listing site .

Curriculum

A total of 34 credit hours is required prior to graduation.

The Artificial Intelligence coursework will address the increasing role of AI in nearly all aspects of human life, including health care, medical diagnosis, new drug discovery, business intelligence, data analytics, customer behavior prediction, robotics in manufacturing and human assistance, autonomous vehicles, including drones and self-driving cars, and beyond. The Artificial Intelligence program requires students to complete a total of 34 credit hours prior to graduation. Students may select one or more areas of specialization, in which case, the student will need to take at least three courses in each area(s) selected.

Recommended cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.90 or higher.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or recognized international institution.

You must demonstrate English language proficiency in one of the ways listed below. If you cannot demonstrate English language competency in one of these ways prior to registration, you will be given the University English Language Assessment Battery (ELAB) test upon arrival. If you pass at a satisfactory level, you may be able to begin academic classes.

  • Proof of completion of Advanced Level at the University’s English Language Institute (ELI)
  • Attainment of a satisfactory score on the University of Bridgeport’s English Language Assessment Battery (ELAB)
  • A minimum TOEFL score of 80 (IBT) for graduates (post-graduates)
  • A minimum IELTS Band score of 6.5 for graduates (post-graduates)
  • A minimum Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) score of 58 for graduates (post-graduates)
  • A minimum Duolingo English Test score of 95 for graduates
  • A grade of “C” or better from an accredited American university for one semester of college English Composition
  • An official letter certifying completion of ELS (English Language Services) Level 112
  • An official “O” level or “A” level Certificate indicating a grade of “C” or better in English
  • An EIKEN score of Grade Pre-1 or above for graduates
  • A score of 4 or better on the “English A” Higher Level examination in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program
  • WAEC, WASSE, CXC, etc. – Score of “C” or better on English Language exam

Deadlines

Completed application and all supporting documents must be received by:

  • July 15 for the Fall semester
  • Dec 1 for the Spring semester
