Study of the brain and nervous system is one of the largest and fastest growing endeavours of the biological sciences, and is a research strength at the University of Sydney. A major in Neuroscience will provide you with a foundation in the biology of the brain and the fundamentals of cognition.You will have the opportunity to learn from researchers in the University's Brain and Mind Centre, and Charles Perkins Centre.This major will equip you to join the rapidly expanding field of global research activity in neuroscience, a discipline which is seeing translation in a number of exciting areas, for example in the fields of engineering, computation, economics and business, and education.The Bachelor of Science (Advanced) is an undergraduate coursework degree that will develop your skills in analytical and critical thinking, providing you with the opportunity to join research fields and help make the world a better place. You will study core units to gain essential knowledge in fundamental sciences. You will then complete a stream, program or major from the Science disciplinary pool, along with a minor or second major from either the disciplinary pool or the shared pool. Additionally, you will complete units from the Open Learning Environment and any elective units as needed to make up the required credit points for the course.
