A successful government must design and implement policies that will further the economic, social and legal interests of its citizens. The Graduate Certificate in Public Policy is designed to give graduate students an understanding of the role of the government in economic activity, public policy and legal decision making. It focuses on how the government interacts with the economy and the law and examines, for example: economic growth, stability, taxation, criminal justice, infrastructure provision, regulation, health, defence, education and social security.Students who study public policy will work in all levels of government, in the not-for-profit sector, in consulting firms and in international organisations. They can be social entrepreneurs, policy analysts, consultants to government or hold public office. This course will give you the necessary multi-disciplinary understanding of these roles, and help you to understand, design and evaluate economic and public policies.
