The TESOL specialisation of the Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies explores a range of issues relating to language teaching and learning, applied linguistics and sociocultural contexts of education. It also develops themes relating to the practical issued of language teaching and learning in a second foreign language context, and investigates the theoretical basis of these issues in the light of recent research developments.The Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies has been designed to further the careers of teaching professionals, educational administrators, researchers and policymakers within specific areas of education practice. Admission to this course requires the applicant to:

a pre-registration nursing degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification; or

an embedded graduate certificate in this discipline from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification; or

a minimum of five years experience as a registered nurse in Australia or overseas.

International applicants are required to have a minimum of one year's experience in emergency nursing and have a choice of providing a statement of support from their supervisor if they wish to undertake the required clinical assessments in their home country, or else the clinical assessments can be undertaken at the Sydney Nursing School under simulated conditions.
