Bioethics is concerned with ethical questions that arise in the contexts of biological and health sciences. Social concern about such issues has grown with the advancement of biomedical and reproductive health technologies, genetic engineering, cloning and stem cell research.You don’t have to come from a medical or health background to study bioethics. Our students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, such as philosophy, humanities, social science, law, science, medicine, nursing, allied health professions, psychology and health management.The Master of Bioethics is a postgraduate coursework degree that will give you the skills to grapple with ethical questions that arise in the contexts of biological and health sciences including questions related to the advancement of biomedical and reproductive health technologies, genetic engineering, cloning and stem cell research. This course meets the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP) continuing professional development standards. You will complete core units in bioethics, philosophy of medicine and law and will finish with a capstone project. Students with a credit average in four units are eligible for the research pathway.
