The Finance specialisation within the Master of Commerce and Master of Commerce (Extension) prepares students for careers in asset management, investment banking, risk management, corporate strategy and regulation. The specialisation covers critical concepts in corporate finance and investments within its core units.The Finance specialisation’s electives allow students to shape their advanced learning around existing experience and build deep knowledge and technical skills in key fields of industry. These include corporate valuation, derivative securities, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, portfolio theory, asset pricing and banking. Ethical and social considerations are discussed throughout the specialisation.

To be considered for admission, an applicant is required to have:an Australian bachelor's degree or higher with a credit average (65 percent) or equivalent qualification, oran Australian bachelor's degree or higher (minimum 50 percent average) or equivalent qualification, and satisfactory performance in the GMAT (for guidance, the class average score is 630), or the University of Sydney Graduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate in Commerce with a credit average (65 percent).
