The Master of Professional Accounting (Professional Practice) aims to provide the formal educational requirements for entry to the profession of Accounting, and the opportunity to develop key professional and employability skills which can then be applied in practice through a work placement in industry.
The degree is designed to build upon previous non-accounting undergraduate studies to provide graduates with relevant technical and theoretical knowledge of accounting and related disciplines. The program integrates professional communication skills, computer applications, and business ethics within the discipline of accounting. Through a series of work integrated learning activities, including a work placement, the course will prepare students for careers as professional accounting practitioners, for specialist and managerial positions in private or public practice, commerce, industry and the public sector.

Applicants are required to have an undergraduate degree from a recognised Australian tertiary institution (or equivalent). The undergraduate degree must be in a field other than Accounting, or not recognised by the Australian Accounting professional bodies for associate membership.
Applicants without a tertiary qualification may be admitted to the Graduate Diploma of Accounting on the basis of professional attainment and/or work experience. Upon successful completion of the Graduate Diploma students will then be eligible for admission to the Master of Professional Accounting and receive credit for applicable subjects.
