Our Principal Investigators are addressing complex biological questions with a strong emphasis on determining the cellular and molecular basis of disease, in particular in the fields of diabetes and vascular biology, neuroscience and cancer. Our mission is to deliver teaching and research excellence that fosters discovery and learning through collaboration within UCD, nationally and internationally.Cancer research activity within SBBS is focused on the identification, mechanistic anchoring and clinical validation of molecular determinants of tumour progression, with a particular interest in biomarker discoverytranslation and drug development to facilitate precision therapy.SBBS cancer researchers are centrally involved in flagship nationally-funded cancer research programmes, for example the SFI-funded strategic research cluster opens in a new windowopens in a new windowMolecular Therapeutics for Cancer Ireland, and the Irish Cancer Societys first collaborative cancer research centre,opens in a new windowopens in a new window Breast-Predict.
