The Bachelor of Accounting will equip you with the theory and practice of accountancy in an ethical, socially responsible and sustainable way to provide accounting and business advice to companies, organisations and individuals that aligns with Ngā Kaupapa o te Tiriti o Waitangi.You will explore a range of accounting topics through active and applied learning. Compulsory modules cover core business and accounting topics, enabling you to develop comprehensive professional skills, knowledge and capabilities. An elective in your third year allows you to focus on another topic of interest in business. In your third year, you will also undertake a professional accounting project with a local business. This opportunity allows you to apply your learnings in a real-life, hands-on work environment that you can add to your CV for future employment.

General admissionUniversity entranceNCEA Level 3Three subjects at Level 3, made up of:14 credits in each of the three approved subjectsLiteracy – 10 credits at Level 2 or above, made up of:5 credits in reading5 credits in writingNumeracy – 10 credits at Level 1 or above, made up of:achievement standards - specified achievement standards available through a range of subjects, orunit standards - package of three numeracy unit standards (26623, 26626, 26627- all three required).orSatisfied the criteria for entrance to a New Zealand University with an equivalent to the above from another secondary qualification.orSuccessful completion of an approved qualification at Level 4 or above with a relevant pathway. Special admissionApplicants who are at least 20 years of age on the programme start date for the semester and who do not meet the level of general admission requirements above and who believe that they have the level of preparedness for study at this level may apply for special admission. In assessing whether to grant special admission the primary focus will be on the applicants ability to demonstrate a likelihood to succeed in the programme. All decisions will be at the discretion of the Relevant Academic Authority. Applicants who do not meet the general admission requirements stated above and who believe that they have the level of preparedness for study at this level may apply for discretionary admission. In assessing whether to grant discretionary admission the primary focus will be on the applicants ability to demonstrate a likelihood to succeed in the programme.
