Our BA/BE(Hons) helps to develop the skills you’ll need to adapt and thrive in a fast-changing, globalised economy. The five-year programme blends theoretical and practical work. It allows you to complement your technical acumen with the broad, transferable skills and critical thinking abilities essential for solving complex problems. You can combine one of our nine engineering specialisations with a wide range of subjects in the humanities, social sciences, cultures and languages. The unique skill set that you will gain through a BA/BE(Hons) will put you in a strong position to pursue new opportunities created by developments in society, technology and business. All our Engineering specialisations are accredited by Engineering New Zealand, making this programme a recognised qualification in many countries. You will take Stage II courses in Academic English Studies (ACADENG) that are designed for students who speak English as an additional language. If your English language skills are not advanced enough for Stage II ACADENG courses, you will need to take Stage I ACADENG courses before you begin this subject. You will combine your study of academic English with the study of language structure (sounds, words, sentences and meaning). You will also study aspects of the theory of language teaching and learning.
