In this programme, you will gain a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you in both your Arts and Fine Arts courses. Creative thinkers and makers consider cultural, social, environmental, ethical and political concepts and find compelling ways to share these ideas with their audience. The wide range of subjects available in the Bachelor of Arts means you can focus your studies on the aspects of society, people and culture that interest you. In your Fine Arts component, you will study contemporary art and pursue your choice from a range of art media and practices, including ceramics, photography, installation, performance art, print, moving image, digital media, sound art and more. This conjoint will deepen your knowledge of society, people and culture and enhance your critical thinking and communication skills. Using the skills and knowledge gained from combining these degrees will bring out the best in you and improve your career options.Communication is an interdisciplinary field that examines verbal, nonverbal and mediated communication, media texts, audiences and the role of new technologies. Your study in Communication will give you in-depth insights into how media and communication operate in society today. You will be able to develop specialist skills and knowledge by studying various forms of writing, journalism, digital and visual communications and social media. You can gain insights into audiences, technology and culture, advertising, marketing, and communications in business and the workplace. There are also opportunities to explore the relationship of the media with politics, gender and Māori.Media and communication are big business, and digital media consumes our daily lives. Your study in Communication will give you in-depth insights into how media and communication operate in society today. You will be able to develop specialist skills and knowledge by studying various forms of writing, journalism, digital and visual communications and social media. You can gain insights into audiences, technology and culture, advertising, marketing, and communications in business and the workplace. There are also opportunities to explore the relationship of the media with politics, gender and Māori.
