If you have a passion and enthusiasm for young children's learning, apply for admission to a teaching programme endorsed in Early Childhood Education. Graduates will be qualified to teach in a variety of early childhood settings in New Zealand and overseas.Early Childhood Education is an endorsement for the Bachelor of Teaching and for the Master of Teaching and Learning. A three-year undergraduate degree programme for those who do not hold a degree. The Bachelor of Teaching endorsed in Early Childhood Education includes professional teaching issues, curriculum, educational theory and practice, and electives in a chosen subject area. Teaching experience - placements in early childhood settings - is also included.

Admission to the programme shall be subject to the approval of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Humanities), on the advice of the Dean, College of Education, who must be satisfied that, in accordance with Education and Training Act 2020 Section 255(5) (a) and (b), the applicant satisfies the minimum requirements for admission to an initial teacher education programme as specified by the relevant professional body..

We recognise many other qualifications as equivalent to the New Zealand qualification for entrance.

We also accept the following international qualifications:

International Baccalaureate: IB Diploma with a minimum of 24 points.
Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) GCE Advanced Levels: minimum Numerical Score of 8
