The School of Art in Brighton has a long history of internationally-recognised work, has been a pioneer of practice-based and inter-disciplinary methods, and joins with other disciplinary areas to offer expert supervision.

As an Art and Creative Practices PhD student, you will benefit from: a supervisory team comprising 2-3 members of academic staff. Depending on your research specialism you may also have an additional external supervisor from another School, research institution, or industry; access to and induction to research approaches from a variety of related fields, including social science, environmental science, media, design and the humanities; access to a range of electronic resources via the university’s Online Library, as well as to the physical book and journal collections housed within the university libraries; a range of colleagues using arts practices for research investigation, including a regular presentation day of research in these fields; various spaces and facilities for exhibition and public engagement.
