You'll investigate microbiology, genetics, immunology, cell biology, physiology, molecular biology, and more, discovering how scientific research translates into diagnostics, treatments, and therapies.This course is designed to keep your future open. After your first year, you can continue with BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science route, or specialise through one of our pathways in:* Medical Biochemistry: explore how biochemical processes affect human health and investigate the causes and diagnosis of disease.* Medical Microbiology: study the microorganisms responsible for infectious diseases, how they interact with the body, and the strategies used to diagnose, treat, and control them.* Molecular Biotechnology: investigate genetics, gene technologies, and molecular advances that are transforming disease diagnosis and treatment.* Pharmacological Sciences: discover how medicines work, how new drugs are developed, and the science behind treating disease safely and effectively.* Applied Biomedical Science\*: apply to complete a 45-week placement in an NHS pathology laboratory after your second year.
