Dental public health is a speciality of dentistry. Dental public health deals with the prevention of oral disease, promotion of oral health, and improvement of quality of life.Our Dental Public Health Masters is a one-year course. This has a focus on improving dental public health practices, systems, and cross-sector collaboration.As a Dental Public Health student at Dundee, you will learn:how to design and carry out dental public health researchhow raw data and statistics can be used to draw meaningful conclusionshow to design oral health strategies to make a positive impact on people’s healthYou will develop the knowledge and skills to make decisions on how to approach complex issues in health and community settings. You will also work as part of a group to solve dental public health problems. This will help you enhance your team-working skills.As part of this course, you have a range of module pathways to choose from. This allows you to focus your learning on areas of most interest to you. The pathways available include:a dissertationa taught pathway focused on developing research or service evaluation skillstaking part in a real-world dental public health internshipYou’ll learn from a range of experienced staff. These will include consultants and specialists in dental public health, and dental public health researchers. You will also benefit from visiting external speakers who will run workshops and lectures.We have our own Masters Hub in the School of Dentistry, located in the heart of campus. Our Masters Hub is a dedicated space for our postgraduate students. This is where you can collaborate and study with your peers. It is also a great space for independent study.As a Dental Public Health student, you will learn alongside students in Public Health from the School of Medicine. This will help you develop a holistic approach to healthcare that will benefit you throughout your career.
