**This new Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Film and Television course has been designed to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and insights needed to excel in this global industry.**The course brings together a wide range of skills and technical understanding from areas that are increasingly converging. You will build up production skills covering the creation of ideas from written concepts, scripts and audience research through to filming and editing for film, television, audio and online. **About the course****Units are planned to include:****Concept and Development** – This is aimed at enhancing your foundational knowledge, understanding, and skills in creative practice through the exploration of film and television. You will study the history, theories, and advancements in the field, along with the technical knowledge and skills needed to support your creative work.**Creative Project** – This provides you with the opportunity to apply and consolidate your learning by creating a project that showcases your skills and understanding.**Facilities**The course will be based at the newly-developed Digital Media Centre of our £58 million City Hub campus in Nottingham city centre. There you will have access to our new broadcasting studio, podcasting/audio studio, 2 photography studios as well as the industry-standard Adobe Creative Suite. You will have numerous opportunities to engage with other students aiming to get into the creative industries and will work in response to industry briefs. **Assessment**A mixture of traditional and innovative assessment methods will be used, including individual and group presentations, discussions, report writing, case studies, presentations, research and project work, examinations, reflective journals and work-based projects.**Qualification Award**Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Film and Television - awarded by Pearson (subject to validation)**Bursaries**We want our courses to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package in the form of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed. Please check our website - www.nottinghamcollege.ac.uk - for more information.**Your career and progression**From the Level 4 HNC, students will be able to progress to the Level 5 Higher National Diploma course with us.From the HND, graduates could progress to a Level 6 top-up course at another provider (subject to entry requirements). Alternatively, they may wish to seek professional employment in the global Creative Industries sector with documentary Film career opportunities including: director, producer, editor, cinematographer, camera operator, scriptwriter and sound and/or lighting engineer.
