What local festivals and events have you attended?
While studying in the Gold Coast, I’ve been to a few amazing local events like Swell Sculpture Festival, and the Miami Marketta night market. My favourite is definitely Miami Marketta, the atmosphere is so fun and relaxed, with live music, great food from around the world and friendly locals. I love how it feels like a mix of cultures coming together in one place. I also enjoy outdoor festivals near the beach, especially those with art, food, and music. I’d really recommend Miami Marketta to anyone who wants to experience the real Gold Coast vibe!

I have attended a couple of events while studying here at Bond. One of many that was most enjoybale was the morning sunday farmers market at the Home of the Arts (HOTA). This weekly farmers market was particularly enjoyable because it reminds me of my first time coming to the Gold Coast with my family and had the opportunity to visit this particular market. I had a lot of fun with my family during the visit and also produces a peaceful, but not boring, vibe. I would recommend the farmers market if you like foods that arent bought from the grocery shop! The honey here was amazing too!

One of the most memorable events I joined while studying abroad is the Ekka, the Royal Queensland Show. It’s a big annual festival in Brisbane, and each suburb even gets its own public holiday for it. The Ekka has so many things to see and do – farm animals, food stalls, carnival rides, and the famous strawberry sundae. What I liked the most was the night show. It had circus performances, horse shows, motorbike stunts, and it always finished with a huge fireworks display. The atmosphere was so lively, and it really gave me a taste of Queensland’s culture and community spirit.

What have you learnt about yourself since studying abroad?
BALaw in Policy, Philosophy, Economics / Laws
I have gained a significant amount of personal growth and skills sduring my time here. I believe that I have grown in terms of independence, leadership, and adaptability. Moving abroad to study pushed me out of my comfort zone and forced me to take responsibility for every aspect of my life, from managing my finances and time to making important deicsions on my own. This expereince has made me more confident and capable of handling challeges without relying too heavily an other. Another major area of growth has been developing leadership and communication skills. Living and studying in a multicultural environment has taught me how to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, understand different perspective, and work effectively as part of a team. I have also learned to take initiative, whether it;s in group projects, daily life situation or joining clubs. The positives of studying abroad have been immense. I’ve had the opportunity to explore new culture, make friends from around the world, and broaden my worlview. Being. in a. new environment has also helped me appreciate my own culture more deeply while learning to adopt to different customs and lifestyle., Most importantly, I’ve discovered a stronger sense fo self, understanding what motivates me, what I value, and what kind of future I want to build. My advice is to embrace every challege and opportunity that comes your way. The first few months might feel overwhelming, but that;s where the most growth happens. Don;t be afraif to step out of your comfort zone and ask for help.
Student experience
Since moving abroad to study, I have learned a great deal about myself, not only as a student, but also as a person navigating new experiences and challenges. Living, working and studying in a different country has taught me resilience, adaptability and the importance of maintaining an open mind. Studying at Bond University, with its intense trimester system that runs for 13 weeks, has been both rewarding and demanding. The fast pace means that there is little downtime, and we often face situations that are outside our control, such as placement allocations, deadlines or schedule changes. Initially, this felt overwhelming, but these experiences taught me how to prioritise, stay organized, and manage my stress effectively. For prospective students thinking about studying abroad, my advice would be to stay open-minded and build resilience. Things might not always go according to plan whether it’s your accommodation, study schedule, or placement but that’s part of the experience. Allow things to happen, adapt as you go and don’t overstress about what you can’t control. Do the best you can with what you have and remember that every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow.

What are the best things about studying in Australia as an international student?
BALaw in Policy, Philosophy, Economics / Laws
What I enjoy most about studying in Australia, from my perspective and experience at Bond University, is the incredible opportunities I have received throguhout my studies. At Bond, there are so many ways to get invovled— from giving tours to prospective students to participating in clubs and societies. I am someone who loves being engaged, and having the chance to be so invovled in the Bond community is the perfect opportunity to learn, grow as a person, and expand my network. Additionally, the work-life balance at Bond has been wonderful. The campus is located in Varisty Lake, right next to the lake itself. I often go for walks to de-stress and relax, enjoying the sounds of birds chirping and spotting the occasional adorable ducks! I also love visiting the nearby beaches to enjoy the sand and water. It’s amazing to have the beach just a short ride away, making it easy to unwind and recharge. Nature here is beautiful. Definetly enjoying all of these items that are included in the package!

Master of in Finance
There are so many things I love about studying in Australia, but what stands out the most is the lifestyle balance. As an international student, moving to the Gold Coast to pursue my Master of Finance at Bond University has been a life-changing experience, and not just academically. At Bond, the campus is genuinely stunning, and I love how many beautiful outdoor spots we have for studying or just taking a break in the sun. The weather is amazing year-round, and being able to study outside, grab a coffee, and feel the ocean breeze between classes makes everything feel lighter and more enjoyable, even during busy exam weeks. Another great part is the welcoming and diverse community. As a mum and someone starting a new chapter in a different country, I’ve felt incredibly supported here. Professors at Bond are approachable, classmates come from all over the world, and there’s a real sense of belonging. It’s a multicultural environment where I get to learn from people with different backgrounds, while also connecting with Aussies and understanding more about Australian culture.
