You can use your problem-solving skills to develop realistic games in a competitive gaming environment. A decade ago, people probably wouldn’t have noticed if the cape the game hero was wearing didn’t flap in the wind as he ran or that the boxes in the corner of the room of the dungeon didn’t fall over when they were run into a fight. Today, serious gamers notice and demand this type of realism in their virtual worlds. This is where your maths and problem-solving capabilities come into play. Complex formulae are used in games design to create realistic scenes, and knowledge of mathematics will undoubtedly aid your understanding. In this double degree, you will complete the requirements for two separate degrees in four years. The course consists of units in both Games and Interactive Environments and Mathematics. In the Games and Interactive Environments component you will complete core units in introductory design, games studies, professional skills and basic programming and then choose one of these majors: Animation Game Design Software Technologies. Students are assisted throughout their course with choices to match their career aspirations and abilities.
