Social Workers transform lives. They harness empathy, evidence and advocacy to work with individuals, families and communities in pursuit of social justice. Using relationship-centred practice, they provide practical support, challenge oppression and injustice, reduce harm and uphold dignity. This program is designed to provide you with the underpinning knowledge and skills required for postgraduate studies in Social Work. You will explore and critically evaluate Social Work theories, investigate contemporary social issues, and develop an understanding of how Social Work operates in Australia – and beyond. Through a combination of lectures, tutorials, groupwork and a diverse range of assessments, you will secure the essential requirements needed to join and succeed on the Master of Social Work (Qualifying). The Graduate Certificate in Human Services is specifically tailored to those students who have successfully completed an undergraduate degree in any area with a minimum of four (4) completed subjects in the social or behavioural sciences, but do not have a specific background in Health, Education or Society and Culture.
