CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK

Graduation Requirements:

Successful completion of 60 credits as listed below
Require a minimum GPA of 2.00

(Specializations will be noted on the transcript and will not be noted on the credential)

Course Requirements:

To complete an Associate of Arts Degree with a Specialization in Performing and Fine Arts, students must complete:

18 or more credits (of the 60 credits required for their associate degree) in Performing and Fine Arts (PEFA)
nine of those 18 credits must be considered second-year courses. To qualify as a second-year course, a course must transfer to one of the research universities (SFU, UBC, UBC-O, UVic, or UNBC) at the second-year level.

The following are the general requirements for an Associate of Arts Degree at any B.C. college:

6 credits (2 courses) first-year English electives
6 credits (2 courses) first-year Humanities electives
6 credits (2 courses) first-year Social Sciences electives
6 credits (2 courses) first-year Arts electives
18 credits (6 courses) second-year Arts electives in 2 or more subject areas
3 credits (1 course) first-year Lab Science elective
3 credits (1 course) first-year Math, Statistics or Computing Science elective
3 credits (1 course) first-year Math, Statistics or Science elective
9 credits (3 courses) other University Transfer electives

Applicants must have BC secondary school graduation (or the equivalent in another school system); One course short of BC secondary school graduation; 19 years old by the end of the first month of the first semester of attendance; 17 years old on the first day of the first semester of attendance and has not been in school for at least one year; Completion of a certificate or equivalent from a special needs program and has been in school for 12 years. English Language Proficiency Requirement: LPI - minimum essay score 4; TOEFL iBT - minimum score 83; IELTS - minimum overall band test score 6.5 (academic module only); EIKEN Practical English - minimum placement of Grade 1; CAEL - minimum overall and essay score of 60 (computer or paper based); Cambridge English CAE- minimum score 75 or "B"; Cambridge English CPE - minimum score 60 or "C"; Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 8 in each of Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic - minimum score of 56.

Minimum overall grade average of “C” or 60% or equivalent in the final year of high school; and

Minimum final grade of “C” or 60% in Grade 11 Mathematics or equivalent for most programs

English Language Proficiency:

B.C. high school English 12: minimum grade C.
TOEFL: iBT minimum score 83.
IELTS (Academic Module): minimum overall score 6.5. For post-degree and post-baccalaureate diploma programs, minimum score of 6.0 for each band.
Successful completion of four courses at ACE Level 2 and three courses at ACE Level 3 at Douglas College.
