The CTS major offers students in the College of Arts a unique and flexible program of study with which to explore the role of culture and creativity in an increasingly technological world, using technologies themselves as part of the process. It emerges from the insight that technology is inextricably linked to human experience, culture, and society. Students in CTS will tackle the complex relationships among power, digital knowledge, digital cultures, the representation of data, and the ethical questions surrounding the development, deployment, and accessibility of technological objects and processes. CTS builds an understanding of the digital mediation of cultural processes and the role humans play in technological work. CTS majors learn digital methods for intervening in the contemporary world as versatile creators, curators, communicators, and citizens.

The secondary school graduation certificate which would admit a student to an internationally recognized university in their home country is normally acceptable for admission to the University of Guelph.Students presenting predicted, interim or midterm grade 12/senior level results may be considered for a conditional offer of admission if all prerequisite courses are completed or in progress and meeting the minimum grade requirements. International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with 6 subjects: 3 Higher Level and 3 Standard Level with a minimum score of 28. Bonus marks from TOK and EE will be taken into consideration. Prerequisites for the major must be taken at the IB DP2 level.Note: For programs with Advanced Math, students must present one of: SL/HL Analysis & Approaches, or HL Applications & Interpretations. Math Studies/Standard Level Applications and Interpretations are not an acceptable prerequisite for programs that require Advanced Math or Calculus.
