A students selection of courses must follow the B.A. Program Regulations including Distribution Requirements, a pattern of study for either the General or Honours degree below, and the detailed schedules of studies which follow for any special subjects studied. The University of Guelph offers general and honours programs leading to the B.A. degree. The General Program consists of a minimum of 15.00 credits requiring the equivalent of 6 semesters of successful full time study. The Honours Program consists of a minimum of 20.00 credits requiring the equivalent of 8 semesters of successful full time study. A student may register in Summer, Fall and Winter semesters. The normal course load is 2.50 credits per semester for a full time student on regular status. Students may register for 0.50 credit more at their own discretion. Part time study consists of 1.50 credits or fewer per semester.

The secondary school graduation certificate which would admit a student to an internationally recognized university in their home country is normally acceptable for admission to the University of Guelph.Students presenting predicted, interim or midterm grade 12/senior level results may be considered for a conditional offer of admission if all prerequisite courses are completed or in progress and meeting the minimum grade requirements. International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with 6 subjects: 3 Higher Level and 3 Standard Level with a minimum score of 28. Bonus marks from TOK and EE will be taken into consideration. Prerequisites for the major must be taken at the IB DP2 level.Note: For programs with Advanced Math, students must present one of: SL/HL Analysis & Approaches, or HL Applications & Interpretations. Math Studies/Standard Level Applications and Interpretations are not an acceptable prerequisite for programs that require Advanced Math or Calculus.
