Computer Engineering the application of computer science and electricalelectronics engineering to develop computer hardware and software. Graduates in Computer Engineering gain skills and use computer aided-design tools that enable them to design, implement, and develop processors, hardware accelerators and associated software. These skills lead to efficient hardwaresoftware co-design and the ability to develop userapplication-level software. This major provides students with a common base of knowledge essential to computer engineering and then allows them to select from a menu of electives to attain a broad technical background. Electives are available in the areas of Embedded Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Software Design, Computer Communications, Circuit Design and VLSI, Controls and Robotics.

The secondary school graduation certificate which would admit a student to an internationally recognized university in their home country is normally acceptable for admission to the University of Guelph.Students presenting predicted, interim or midterm grade 12/senior level results may be considered for a conditional offer of admission if all prerequisite courses are completed or in progress and meeting the minimum grade requirements. International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with 6 subjects: 3 Higher Level and 3 Standard Level with a minimum score of 28. Bonus marks from TOK and EE will be taken into consideration. Prerequisites for the major must be taken at the IB DP2 level.Note: For programs with Advanced Math, students must present one of: SL/HL Analysis & Approaches, or HL Applications & Interpretations. Math Studies/Standard Level Applications and Interpretations are not an acceptable prerequisite for programs that require Advanced Math or Calculus.
