The Graduate Diploma in European Studies is taken in conjunction with a Master’s or Doctoral degree program at York University. The Graduate Diploma certifies that, in addition to having completed an advanced degree in a related discipline, a student has acquired special expertise about Europe.The Graduate Diploma in European Studies provides opportunities and assistance to students who wish to:Develop expertise in the interdisciplinary field of European StudiesExchange ideas with students and professors in the humanities, social sciences, and professional facultiesReceive mentoring in academic research and professional skills from leading scholarsObtain hands–on experience through study, research or internships in EuropePresent their work at national and international conferences and research colloquiaApply for internal and external funding.

Applicants must hold, at a minimum, an Honours undergraduate degree or equivalent (typically a four-year full-time program) from a recognized post-secondary institution with at least a B (second class) standing in the final two years of full-time equivalent study. As approved by the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Senate, individual graduate programs may have a minimum academic standing requirement greater than B (second class).
