Environmental toxicology is a rapidly expanding area of environmental science concerned with understanding the adverse effects of chemical, physical, and biological agents on living organisms. Organisms are continually exposed to and challenged by chemicals in our environment-and environmenal toxicologists are interested in finding scientifically sound answers to questions.Develop cutting-edge research skills in an innovative and collegial environment. As a graduate student in the Department of Biological Sciences, you will join a community of world-renowned researchers who are not only advancing our understanding of biological processes, but spearheading solutions to real-world issues such as:biodiversity loss and the conservation of plants and animals at riskthe adverse effects of chemical and physical agents on cells and organismsthe roles of microbes in altering cell morphology and physiology and degrading pollutionthe evolutionary and genetic basis for human medical and psychological conditions (e.g. diabetes, Alzheimer’s, autism and schizophrenia)
