The study of Design combines an understanding of human needs and desires, forming creative solutions, prototyping and developing artefacts and evaluating their impact and effectiveness in society. It comprises a well-balanced combination of analytical, technological and creative abilities.Communication Design is concerned with visually communicating messages and ideas across multiple media platforms. The University of Waikato sets standards for English language proficiency for admission to the University for applicants whose first language is not English or te reo Māori. All international applicants, as well as New Zealand and Australian permanent visa holders, are required to provide satisfactory evidence of their proficiency in English.Applicants must achieve a minimum of 6 points taken from three subjects, achieving a minimum grade of C in at least one subject. Points calculated as follows: A = 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 2, E = 1. AS Level grades are not included. To meet the English language requirements, you are required to obtain an E (pass) grade in an approved English-intensive GCE A-Level subjectsInternational Baccalaureate (taken in NZ or overseas) - Completed International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma with a minimum of 24 points.
