Youll gain knowledge of specialised mathematics for teaching and learning within the early years, primary or secondary sectors. Youll gain a high level of skill in analysis, synthesis and critical evaluation of mathematics pedagogy and curriculum. Your qualification options The Master of Education does not qualify you to be a teacher in New Zealand. If you want to be a teacher, you will also need to take a postgraduate teaching qualification. Further study If you want to advance to doctoral study, you will also need at least a B GPA in the Master of Education.
To enter the Master of Education Mathematics Education you will have been awarded or qualified forthe Bachelor of Education with a grade average in the highest level courses of at least a B or equivalent orany other bachelors degree with a grade average in the highest level courses of at least a B or equivalent and hold a professional qualification in teaching orany other bachelors degree with a grade average in the highest level courses of at least a B or equivalent and have professional experience relevant to the intended postgraduate subject ora Postgraduate Diploma in Education or equivalent with a grade average across all courses of at least B coursework pathway or at least a B research pathway.
