BA (Hons) English Multidiscipline makes possible the combined study of two subjects from English Literature, English Language, Creative Writing, and Drama, including career-focused options such as a work placement opportunity, the chance to study abroad, and masterclasses from professional writers, editors, and practitioners.By studying English Literature and Drama as a part of BA (Hons) English Multidiscipline, you will learn how to critically explore a broad range of literature while, at the same time, engaging with the study of drama and the practical elements of performance and playwriting.Within your English Literature modules, you will explore historical and contemporary literature, interrogating issues relating to identity, the environment, and society. Studying English Literature will help you to develop the approaches and terminologies needed to articulate your understandings of society and culture across history but particularly in the present day. Meanwhile, in your Drama modules, you will study a range of plays and approaches with tutors who are practicing professionals, exploring the relationship between the page and the stage while developing creative and critical approaches to performance. You will have the opportunity to explore devising, scriptwriting, and directing, with practical classes taking place in our performance and rehearsal spaces in the New Adelphi Theatre.
