Illinois Tech’s Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering/Bachelor of Science in Materials Science Engineering dual degree program allows students the opportunity to pursue studies and complete both degrees in as few as five years. This program provides students more job opportunities in engineering, giving them a greater breadth of knowledge in the engineering field. The undergraduate aerospace engineering program explores both the design and manufacturing of aircraft, as well as the design and flight of vehicles beyond Earth’s atmosphere. In combination with our undergraduate materials science and engineering program, students will additionally develop a deeper understanding of the structure, properties, processing, and service behavior of engineering materials, including metallic, ceramic, polymeric, and composite materials. Students will gain thorough knowledge of engineering principles and methods to drive creativity and innovation by building skills in aerospace engineering and materials science and engineering. Graduates will gain an understanding of improved materials and solutions to technological, societal, and environmental problems and by learning aerodynamics, structures and materials, propulsion systems, flight mechanics, and controls for industry success. Illinois Tech's aerospace engineering and materials science and engineering programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
