Ball State’s design and technology option in our bachelor of arts/bachelor of science (BA/BS) degree in theatre is a broad-based, undergraduate-only program within a liberal arts education. You will engage in every aspect of a theatre production, gaining hands-on experience beginning freshman year.The design and technology option curriculum will provide you with an understanding of the skills and tools essential to creating the physical world of a theatre or dance production. You will be able to customize your educational experience with your four-year program being tailored to your individual skills and interests in the areas of scenic, lighting, costume, sound, hair and makeup, props, or technical theatre. Course work focuses on the whole theatre artist-design theory and technical skills are equally valued.You will be challenged to create and problem-solve in new and imaginative ways on a wide variety of plays, musicals, and dance pieces, to prepare you to enter the professional world or seek further training on the graduate level.The curriculum allows you to participate in exciting immersive learning opportunities to collaborate with other disciplines and get involved in projects with real-world impact.
