Acting majors actively participate in the department’s productions in conjunction with their ongoing class work. UIC’s Mainstage Season performances and student-generated projects are under the direction and coaching of the theatre faculty and guest artists, all of whom are highly regarded professional artists in their respective fields. Gain conservatory-style training in a liberal arts setting through our BFA in Acting, working closely with world-class faculty from Tony Award-winning theatres. You will take six semesters of voice for the actor and six semesters of movement for the actor. Eight semesters of acting will culminate in a semester-long audition class taught by casting directors from the Goodman Theatre and Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Degree RequirementsThe BFA in Acting combines the conservatory-style study of acting with the study of dramatic texts in their theatrical and cultural contexts. To earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from UIC, students need to complete university, college, and school degree requirements.
