Bachelor of Science in Education Degree with a Major in Elementary Education Unified (K-6)

The Pittsburg State University Elementary Education Unified program prepares students to teach general education or special education, grades K-6. Our students get hands-on experience in classrooms with award-winning elementary and special education teachers. Our professors teach students how to bring their passion for teaching to the classroom in order to become the teachers that students will remember for the rest of their lives. Majors in Elementary Education Unified (K-6) devote the greater portion of their work during the first two years to Pitt State Pathway requirements. The work of the last two years consists of continued academic coursework at the upper level and professional courses and experiences. The candidate's professional education program culminates in the senior year with the internship semester and the professional semester, which includes yearlong, off-campus student teaching. Candidates participate in over 1,000 hours of clinical/field experiences throughout their program.Candidates working toward licensure in Elementary Education Unified (K-6) will be able to teach both general and special education for grades K-6.
