The Accounting and Information Systems joint emphasis brings together the skill sets of two interdependent disciplines that are experiencing rapid change and growth. Many traditional accounting functions are now embodied in information systems. Today’s accounting professionals will benefit from more extensive education in general and specialized education in aspects of information systems, including information technology, database management, information security and privacy, and enterprise-wide integrated business process systems. Similarly, today’s information systems professionals will benefit from a strong education in accounting when analyzing, designing and developing business systems. The program prepares students for specialized careers in accounting, auditing, consulting, business analysis and management.
