Lehigh’s graduate programs in computer science provide a balance between formal classroom instruction and research and are tailored to the individual student’s professional goals. The programs appeal to individuals with backgrounds in electrical or computer engineering, computer or information science, mathematics, or the physical sciences. Students in the Ph.D. program receive training to perform novel and independent research in computer science. The training typically requires between four and six years of study, beginning with coursework and quickly transitioning into a focus on research activities. These activities include the development and pursuit of original research plans and the presentation and defense of research findings in publications and at international conferences.
