It's the study of humans and their cultures in the broadest sense. We study humanity, past and present, in all its biological and cultural aspects. Our students examine the diversity, origins, and evolution of human and primate culture and behavior, the development of human culture and the processes of culture change, the phenomenon of language, and the structure and meaning of human interaction.We offer graduate programs leading to the Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Anthropology. We strive to produce students with strong expertise in particular specialty areas plus broad backgrounds in all four major sub-fields of anthropology (Archaeology, Biological, Linguistics, and Sociocultural) and an appreciation for the holistic nature of the discipline. In accord with this philosophy, we offer a flexible program which serves students with diverse interests and goals.
