The TESOL Option combines courses in linguistics and pedagogy, to prepare students for teaching English both in the U.S. and abroad.The department offers an undergraduate major in Linguistics, including options in Translation Studies and TESOL, a minor in Linguistics, a major and minor in ASLD, an option in ASL - English Interpreting, an undergraduate minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and the MA with four options: TESOL, General, Language and Culture and Special Option. This program is designed both for students who wish to pursue further graduate study and those seeking a terminal degree. The program seeks to blend theoretical and applied aspects of linguistics and draws from a variety of disciplines. The M.A. offers three options and one concentration- General Linguistics Option.
