The Industrial Technology and Management program (INTM) at Illinois Tech offers a specialization in Industrial Sustainability (ST) at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Courses may be taken live at Illinois Tech’s Main Campus in Chicago or online. The sustainability specialization focuses on how companies use resources to meet present needs without compromising future resources. Sustainability professionals help organizations achieve their goals by ensuring that their business practices are economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable. The Industrial Sustainability specialization is open to all students in the INTM program, as coursework covers energy topics, critical materials and resources, and waste management. The ST specialization benefits students preparing for careers as sustainability officers, environmental managers, operations managers, industrial production managers, transportation, logistics and distribution managers, and building construction and/or facilities managers. Analytical skills help sustainability professionals find ways to reduce waste and improve efficiency in mechanical and electrical systems, and ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
