The Master of Science (MS) in Civil Engineering is a research-oriented graduate degree designed for students seeking advanced study in structural, environmental, geotechnical, and hydraulic and water resources engineering.Students complete a minimum of 30 credit hours, including a required thesis (CE 599) and a comprehensive oral examination. At least 18 credit hours must be earned within the School, with a minimum of 500-level coursework completed at SIU.This program is ideal for students interested in research, doctoral study, or technical leadership roles.If you are looking to continue your education with an advanced degree in civil and environmental engineering at the Master’s level, we offer two programs: 1) Master of Science in Civil Engineering and 2) Master of Engineering degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering.The graduate programs are designed to provide advanced courses and research opportunities in the areas of structural engineering, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, and water resources engineering
