Take the first steps towards a career as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician with Northern Lights College Aircraft Mechanic Basics certificate training program Learn new job skills in an exciting and challenging industry in our one-year program. No Transport Canada accreditation is provided for the certificate program but it may meet the acceptable criteria in the Canadian Aviation.Students who successfully complete the certificate program may choose to further their training by completing the Transport Canada Accredited Aircraft Maintenance Technician Diploma, which is accredited with 1800 hours towards the AME License. If you chose this route, your attendance must remain at 95% or higher, or no more than 45.5 hours missed, to be eligible for the license.Students will study aircraft safety, hangar hazards, airframe structures, engines and aircraft systems. They will learn to interpret technical manuals, drawings and blueprints, to disassemble and remove defective parts, to assemble and install replacement parts and test aircraft systems.
