At BU’s Department of English, Drama & Creative Writing you can study English literature in a small, friendly environment. Study works ranging from Aeschylus’s Agamemnon, Shakespeare’s King Lear, and Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, to Tony Kushner’s Angels in America and Gary Schteyngart’s Super Sad True Love Story. English at BU boasts close contact with faculty the inclusion, unusual for an English department, of classical literature and the opportunity to take courses in creative writing and drama. Your professors in the Department of English, Drama & Creative Writing want you to earn a degree that will enable you to do whatever you want after graduation, whether it be preparation for a career such as teaching or law, or for some other career of your choice. To that end, the department has several degree requirements that aim to ensure the high quality of your degree. The Creative Writing Program at BU offers small class sizes, ideal for workshopping your original short stories, poetry, plays, song lyrics, and literary essays. If you love reading, but you also desire to write your own works for pleasure and/or profit, Creative Writing at BU is for you.

Students must have completed High School or an equivalent Grade 12 qualification. Applicants with an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma must achieve a minimum overall score of 24 points. The IB Diploma must include at least three Higher Level (HL) courses, with the remaining courses taken at either the Higher Level (HL) or Standard Level (SL). For most second-degree programs, the minimum academic admission requirement is a cumulative GPA (CGPA) of 2.0.
