Sociology explores society and the promise of, and resistance to, social change. In the Sociology degree program at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), you’ll explore the essential themes of power, inequalities and movements for equity and social justice. Your knowledge will help you develop a critical understanding of social media, cities and their challenges, immigration and belonging and Indigenous perspectives. Experiential learning opportunities: Co-op available. Gain experience through an optional paid co-op, international and community engagement projects, advanced research training, a capstone bridging course and an optional thesis. You’ll enter your career with specialized knowledge of how we all shape society and how it structures our lives. The Sociology degree program is one of 12 bachelor of arts programs that share a one-year foundation

To be considered for admission, Ontario high school students must meet the following requirements:Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)Completion of 6 Grade 12 U or M courses with a minimum overall average of 70%Completion of the following required Grade 12 U course with a minimum grade of 70%:English/anglais (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred)An overall average of 70% is required for consideration. Due to competition, the average needed for admission can fluctuate each year (it depends on the number of applications received and the number of spaces available). The grade range at the top of this page represents the average required in previous years.Applicants who have completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma must present grades of 4 or higher in 3 Higher Level and 3 Standard Level subjects, including prerequisite subjects, and a total score of 28 or higher (bonus points will be accepted).
