The School of Music at Brandon University fosters an environment where we pursue goals, refine craft, realize identity and engage with the world. All students registered in the Bachelor of Music degree follow a common program for the first year. At the end of the first year, the choice is made as to the specific major to be pursued. A flexible program, allowing a variety of options. Students may choose between extra emphasis in such areas as arts and science, music theory, music history, or composition. A minimum of 60 of the total required credit hours including at least 36 credit hours of major requirements at the 300-level or above must be completed at Brandon University.

Students must have completed High School or an equivalent Grade 12 qualification. Applicants with an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma must achieve a minimum overall score of 24 points. The IB Diploma must include at least three Higher Level (HL) courses, with the remaining courses taken at either the Higher Level (HL) or Standard Level (SL). For most second-degree programs, the minimum academic admission requirement is a cumulative GPA (CGPA) of 2.0.
